1. Define the Core Customer Value

Determine the key moment when users get value from the product (the 'Aha!' moment). Express this value mathematically (e.g. 'Active weekly sharing transactions').

2. Map Input Metrics

Identify the key drivers that directly influence the North Star Metric. Typically structured around breadth, depth, frequency, and acquisition.

3. Align Product Teams to Inputs

Map different product teams or squads to specific inputs on the tree, giving them clear targets that drive the overall product metric.
